I would love to read this book, especially the part about Hemi-neglect. My cat, due to a brain tumor, has hemi-neglect, and is so unaware of the "absent" part of her body that she will eat her food with the "absent" rear paw standing in her water dish. I take the paw out. She does not feel the wetness.

So sad, because I love her so much!

Hi all,

Happy to come across this website while searching for VSR's works.True indeed are these words: “greatest revolution in the history of human race - understanding ourselves.”

http://www.ted.com/index.php/talks/jill_bolte_taylor_s_powerful_stroke_of_insight.html

The above talk is inspiring as it attempts to share an experience. Hope to find comments on the same here.

The works of VS are excellent as they unravel quite a lot of mysteries and has crushed certain dogmas people had.

The study of brain happens to be very important for economics as well. Neuroeconomics is a active field right now.

I enjoyed 'The Emerging Mind' as well. He recently delivered a lecture in Trivandrum, Kerala. [I could not attend it. Though my father did. PS: he is a fan of his as well]

I have read his Reith lectures "The Emerging Mind" online http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio4/reith2003/
Fascinating is a milder word to describe it.
Neuroscience is pretty engrossing subject and Ramachandran's writing is bewitching. No wonder he is acclaimed “The Marco Polo of neuroscience” by Richard Dawkins and “The modern Paul Broca” by Eric Kandel.
To digress a bit, I have enjoyed likewise Oliver Sacks's quaintly titled books "The Man Who Mistook His Wife For a Hat" and "An Anthropologist on Mars".
