Is this book, by any chance, published by Reader's Digest or the like? I remember reading a book when I used to babysit these little girls that had those stories in it and I've been looking for a copy of it ever since. Is that the title then: "Mysteries of the Unexplained"?

And I heard about the frog. I heard that it must've been caught in some type of air bubble when it was covered in mud, the mud hardened and it was sealed inside. But the way I heard it was that a miner felt it and they dated it back to the early 1800's and it was found in the early 1900's.

Also, I heard that Ancient Egyptians had developed batteries (common known fact these days) but it makes me wonder what they used them for. It took thousands of years for "modern man" to discover electricity and even longer than that to develop fuel cells (batteries).

Thanks for this post, by the way!!

I dont understand why people love to hate a different opinion. There is nothing wrong in having beliefs but at the same time the beliefs should be allowed to undergo scrutiny time and again. Anecdotes can be used to formulate hypotheses/theories (that by defination are PROBABLE explanations or SPECULATIONS) but are not mathematical (2+2=4). This blog has fuelled me enough to go-buy this book and read it.

Hi, Enjoyed the review of Fountainhead. Just discovered your blog. Would like to invite you to explore the Ayn Rand in India initiative www.AynRand.org and the associated blog. We are also promoting the essay contests based on Ayn Rand's novels, hosted by the Ayn Rand Institute www.AynRand.org. This year, two Indian high school students were among the winners of the Fountainhead essay contest. Hope to hear from you.
